Writing A Research Paper Draft: 7 Points To Keep In Mind

If you have been tasked with writing a draft for an academic paper, there are some really simple points that can do the trick for you. All you need to do is follow these easy steps and make sure that there is some adherence to the topic as well.

Here are seven neat steps in which you can easily write the draft of a research paper.

  1. The format is important
  2. The first thing that you will need to understand is the format of the paper. It might be in the APA, MLA or Harvard. You will have to be very careful with what format you are choosing. Make sure to contact your course director first.

  3. Source your resources first
  4. Even before you collect the title of the paper, you should enlist the places from where you will collect your resources. There are some resources that are more valuable than others and this is one of the most important steps that you take.

  5. Make a list of references right at the beginning
  6. You should list out all the books and authors right at the start. This way you will make the most of the referencing when quoting the text from other books and resources. You should also take the names and note them according to the format for easy referencing.

  7. Connectivity of chapters
  8. Each chapter must be connected to the one that follows and the one that precedes the chapter. There are several people that make a mess of the organic wholeness in the draft. This should not be done in the first place.

  9. One question at a time
  10. You should ideally make space for one question to be dealt at once. Unless you deal with just one topic at a time, you are susceptible to mixing the topics and questions and this may cause some damage as well.

  11. Deal with the flaws in the draft
  12. The flaws in the draft have to be dealt with in a very precise manner and this is one reason why the next step needs to be followed very minutely. Unless you do that, the lacunae may nit cease to exist.

  13. Recheck at least twice
  14. You have to recheck the paper in order to make sure that the norm has been followed well. Also, make an attempt to do it twice so that the faults you might have overlooked in the first attempt are highlighted in the research paper as well.
